Totally Awesome 80's 10K at the Rose Bowl

on Sat, 09/08/2012 - 19:52

There were a lot of cool costumes at the run that made it fun. the organizers did have some difficulty starting it on time, it was pretty hot by the time 10k runners started running (10am). Ran the 10k w/ my brother Rene, friends German & Rosa. I think the wrestlers costume was the best Macho Man, Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior.

every week Team Husky Heart and friends meet up to climb the San Diego Convention Center stairs. In this session of "I Eat Stairs for Breakfast" we go up the stairs 10 times w/ a sprint at the top to the poles in sequence. In total, climb and sprints, it's a 1.35 mile workout. Hungry for stairs? Join us next week on Wednesday at 6am! Everyone is welcome and if you afraid you can't go up 10 times, that's ok because you'll eventually build up to it if you join us weekly

Frank the Tank

on Wed, 07/18/2012 - 04:14

Congratulations to a big Husky Heart supporter and great friend of mine Frank M. He completed his first half marathon this past weekend, Los Gatos Jungle Run Half Marathon. He is an avid healthy lifestyle person. He has always been a big healthy influence in my life. Running is not his sport...he weight lifts, bjj, mma but never got into big running events. He did great on his first ever half marathon with a time of 1hr 36 minutes. Way to represent Team Husky Heart!!

Safari Park Half Marathon

on Wed, 05/30/2012 - 16:54

This year's Safari Park Half Marathon was 100 times better than last years. Really awesome course this year and well organized. Started at Escondido Mall where there was ample parking. Headed towards the Safari Park where we past Escondido's winery vineyards. They were passing out Gatorade in plastic wine glasses, that was pretty cool and creative. We then ran down the roads through ranches/farms. One spot had its cows out for people to pet or take pictures with. They were also serving fresh milk straight from the cows. There were two big hills during the run...the first one was amazing as it was the entrance to the park and got a beautiful view of the park. Saw elephants, chettahs, lions, birds and runners. It was by far one of the best run's i have ran.

Looking for a spot to do hill training? well look no further than Tecolote Canyon Park in San Diego. It has a nice 1.5 mile trail leading to 4 steep hills. The first hill is beast...we're calling it the "Husky Hill" because it's pretty husky...it's all in YO fazzee lolol let me know if you are up for some hill running and i'll go out there with you. Thanks to everyone (including the wolf) that showed up for the camp as it was a way to train for this weekends San Diego Half Marathon mile 9 hill on Washington St.

Husky Heart Camp - Seaport Village

on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 17:57

Another great turn out at the Seaport Village Husky Heart Camp run! It was a beautiful day to run 4-6 miles...you can see for yourself, check out the pictures Michael took during the beautiful run below. Next camp will be at Tecolote Canyon Park this Saturday February 25th at 8am... where will be doing some hill training...prepping for the San Diego Half Marathon coming up on March 11th. Everyone is welcomed, do not worry if you're not an experienced runner. This is not a race, we want everyone to come out to have fun and get some exercise at the same time. And some Vitamin D wouldn't be so bad either.

This is the new happy hour, at Husky Heart we call it "healthy hour"

Directions:
From Interstate 5 take Sea World Drive/Tecolote Exit and travel east. Pass Morena Blvd. and the center is on the right. There is plenty of parking at the park, just continue east until you hit the end where the recreation center is at. The trail begins there.
