Philadelphia Rock & Roll Half-Marathon

on Wed, 09/29/2010 - 22:07

Feels soo good to complete another short term goal. Team Husky Heart completed the Philadelphia Rock & Roll Half-Marathon on September 19, 2010. I finished the 13.1 miles in 02:29:16 hours:minutes:seconds, the run itself was awesome. Ran through the historic city of Philadelphia in to the outskirts next to a river with great scenery, through bridges and ending at the bottom the Philadelphia Museum of Art a.k.a. the "Rocky steps". Big thank you to the Husky Heart team Michael and Ernie for going out there to complete the run with me. I'm fortunate to have family and friends that encourage and support my new lifestyle. Here are a few pictures of the trip, you can also find all the pictures on the Husky Heart facebook page photo section at http://www.facebook.com/huskyheart  and also a video of the run will come soon!

Thank you all for the support!

Husky Heart Camp - Fiesta Island

on Thu, 09/16/2010 - 05:33

Great run today at Fiesta Island, we ran as the sun was setting. I recommend parking north part of the island and running the loop, which is about 4.45 miles. If you start around 5:30pm-6pm you'll end up watching the sun set by the time you reach the starting point. Really great spot to go for a run, biking, enjoy the ocean breeze as you walk and even a great spot to have a bonfire after the run. Next time Husky Heart Camp is at Fiesta Island we'll try to set up a bonfire after the camp. We got 12 people to come out to todays camp...great job Nancy,  Alex, Octavio, German, Phil, Danny, Ben, Placido, Isac, J. Loredo, Victor and J. Alcala. It was awesome to run the trail today with that many people that are pumped up to be healthy and that are are encouraging and supportive of each other. Here are pictures from today’s camp. I hope to see everyone out again at next weeks Husky Heart Camp!

Husky Heart Camp - Balboa Park Trail #3

on Fri, 09/10/2010 - 03:03

Today's trail at Balboa Park was beautiful. The park itself is amazing and running through its nature scenery, rose gardens and its buildings is an awesome experience. I definitely recommend anyone to go out to Balboa Park for a run or even a walk. There were many runners, bikers, dog walkers and families walking the many trails Balboa has to offer. Ben, Alma, Octavio and Jose did an awesome job today, i'm positive they enjoyed todays beautiful and fun trail as well. Here are pictures from today's camp. I hope to see everyone out again at next weeks Husky Heart Camp!

Team Husky Heart at Huntington Beach

on Wed, 08/11/2010 - 03:40

This past weekend we went out to Huntington Beach to run our weekly long run, which was 11 miles. We started off at Huntington Beach ran past Bolsa Chica Beach and back to Huntington Beach Pier where the US Open Surfing was going on. There was a lot of people at the beach this past weekend because of the competition, but still a very fun run on the beach trail. I'd recommend it to anyone if they're ever out in the area and up for a run. I actually ran the Bolsa Chica part before when i ran the Playa Del Run Huntingbeach 10K a couple months ago. Here are some pics from this past weekends run.

USD Hills/Trail

on Thu, 07/22/2010 - 15:55

Awesome. good bye.

ok ok i'll blab a little bit, but seriously that trail at USD is awesome...right off the bat the hill of death, i'm not gonna lie i couldnt run it all the way up, i had to walk some of it up....aaaaaaaand then its about 4 straight hills, totaling about 1.25-1.50 miles of hills and then another 2.25 mile trail back to the starting point, finishing off with a final hill. Thanks to Erik F. for taking me out and runnig this trail with me, he's a beast and a half. He's a great motivator as he pushed me through the hills, thats the kind of beast you want on your team. I'm gonna try to do it a couple times a month, it feels awesome finishing a trail like that, total of 3.5 miles. Took me 53 minutes to complete it, next time i plan on beating that time. let's get it! -Team Husky Heart

you see that hill way in the back in the middle of the pic (circled in red)? thats the 1st hill

my HH running shoes got beat up...thats a good thing!

10.5 miles

on Sun, 07/18/2010 - 16:16

Yesterday i did 10.5 (was suppose to run 10.25, but i ended up having to run the last 1.5 mile home lol) miles at Cal State L.A. as part of the NikePlus half-marathon training. Took me 2hours to complete, not bad for my longest run to date. Rene, Michael and Ernie joined me for the run as well. In the next few weeks i'll be running 20+ miles a week, getting ready for the Philadelphia half-marathon. Didnt wake up sore either, i think thats a good sign...gotta keep it up, 2 more months left before Philly!
